Controlled-release fertilizer packets

JRP International, Inc., manufacturer of the Nutri-Pak Controlled Release Fertilized Packet System, has developed, (in conjunction with leading experts in palm tree nutrition), a fertilizer packet that specifically addresses the nutritional requirements of palms.

First, a brief explanation of the packet system; Nutri-Pak fertilizer packets are a revolutionary method of delivering nutrients to the target plants' root zone in such a way that nutrient loss due to leaching or run-off is minimized, fertilizer damage to the plant is averted, and the cost of labor and supplies are reduced. Here's how it works. Each fertilizer packet contains a pre-measured amount of precisely formulated nutrients for proper feeding. Simply bury the required amount of packets 6 to 8 inches deep intact around the root system of a plant. Microscopic pores allow water vapor to enter the packet, dissolve the nutrients, then gradually and consistently release fertilizer out to the feeder roots. Nothing could be easier -- no mixing, no measuring, no mess. In addition, Nutri-Pak lasts for either one year or three years, depending on packet size selected, (in year-round growing conditions).

The packet method significantly improves fertilizer use efficiency, making it possible for only a few ounces of fertilizer to last up to three years, even in tropical zones. This efficient use of nitrogen greatly reduces the potential for excess nutrients entering our water supplies. So much so, that the American Forestry Association invited us to be National Corporate Partners with their "Global ReLeaf" campaign. It is an honor to have been a member since 1989.

The Controlled Release Fertilizer Packet System has been in use for over 30 years, however it is only recently that the palm formulations have been developed. The "Palm-Paks" differ from our other products in that they contain a relatively large amount of micronutrients. They are available in two different formulations. One is a 12-4-12, the other an 8-4-16. The 12-4-12 has a higher nitrogen content, and is intended for palms that you would like to increase in size, as well as develop general health and beauty. The 8-4-16 contains less nitrogen, and is intended for use on larger, more mature trees where increased growth rates are not desired. We refer to it as our "Palm Maintenance" packet, as its function is to deliver a good supply of micronutrients to the tree, to prevent or correct problems such as yellowing and frizzle-top.

Nutri-Paks "Palm-Paks" have already gained wide acceptance in many parts of Florida, Texas and southern California by governmental agencies, municipalities, landscapers and brokers, all who are looking for a simple and foolproof method of caring for palms. Nutri-Paks for palms are also great for other types of plants. Many species show improvement when micronutrients are made available to them.
